Privacy policy
Effective 2 October 2026. This explains what happens to information you send through cyrus.law. It is written to describe what the site actually does rather than to cover every possibility, so if something here stops being true it gets changed.
What the form collects
When you send the contact form, it collects your name, your phone number, your email if you give one, the sentence you write about what happened, and roughly when it happened. Nothing else is required, and the form is deliberately short.
Three other things are recorded with it:
- The consent sentence you ticked, word for word, with the time you ticked it. That is the record that sending the form did not make me your lawyer. It is kept for your protection as much as mine.
- A one-way fingerprint of your IP address, not the address itself. It exists only to stop the same machine submitting the form fifty times, and it cannot be turned back into an address.
- Which link you arrived from, if the link carried a tag, so I know which pages are worth keeping.
What this site does not do
There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no social tracker and no font loaded from a service that logs who you are. Nothing on this site reports your visit to a third party for marketing.
Your information is never sold or rented, and it is never shared for cross-context behavioural advertising. I am not in that business and I do not intend to be.
Where it goes, and how briefly
The form posts to a server that holds your message only until my own system collects it, which happens within minutes. It is then deleted from that server. The copy I keep lives on a machine I control, not in a shared inbox, a marketing tool or any service that trains software on what it reads.
If I take your case, the file becomes a client file and the rules that govern client confidences apply to it. If I do not, I keep enough to know I was contacted and why, because I have to be able to check for conflicts later, and that obligation runs both ways: it is also what stops me acting against you.
Please do not send confidential details
The form says this twice and it is worth a third time. Send enough for me to call you back and keep the rest for the call.
There is a practical reason beyond privacy. If somebody I do not represent sends me confidential information, it can stop me acting in a related matter later. Keeping the form short protects your ability to be represented, by me or by somebody else.
Your California rights
California gives you the right to know what personal information is held about you, to ask for a copy, to ask for it to be deleted, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. There is nothing to opt out of in respect of sale or sharing, because neither happens.
To exercise any of it, write to cyrus@cyrus.law or call (424) 222-9787. I may need to ask something to confirm it is you, and I will not use that to build a profile.
One limit worth stating plainly: if you became a client, the file is subject to rules about how long a lawyer must keep records, and those obligations can override a deletion request. I will tell you if that applies rather than quietly declining.
Children
The site is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
